Kibale Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary/ Community visit.

After breakfast, head to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for the start of your chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park. Treks begin at 08:00 am and 3:00 pm, lasting 2–3 hours. While chimpanzees are the main attraction, the forest is also home to the black‑and‑white colobus, red‑tailed monkeys, and the grey‑cheeked mangabey. Your expert guides will point out rare bird species such as pittas, and share insights into the diverse plant life of this rich rainforest ecosystem. Groups are limited to six people, ensuring a personalized and intimate experience.

In the afternoon, visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community‑run conservation project located on the edge of Kibale Forest. Guided walks along boardwalk trails take you through lush wetlands, a paradise for birdwatchers with over 138 species recorded, including the spectacular Great Blue Turaco. The sanctuary is also home to eight primate species, among them the red colobus, black‑and‑white colobus, L’Hoest’s monkey, and vervet monkeys. Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After breakfast, continue your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most popular safari destinations. Located in the western region of the country, the park is celebrated for its diverse ecosystems, ranging from savannah plains and tropical forests to sparkling crater lakes and wetlands.

In the northern section, enjoy a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, home to the world’s largest population of hippos and an impressive number of Nile crocodiles. Along the banks, expect to see elephants, buffalo, and an incredible variety of birdlife gathering at the water’s edge.

Venture into Kyambura Gorge, fondly known as the Valley of the Apes, where chimpanzees thrive in lush tropical rainforest canopies. The park also boasts three salty crater lakes, often decorated with flocks of pink flamingos, creating a striking contrast against the volcanic landscapes.

On the western shores of Lake George, the vast Kasenyi Plains provide excellent opportunities to spot lions and other predators, alongside fascinating bird species. This day offers a perfect blend of wildlife encounters, scenic beauty, and cultural significance.

Enjoy an unhurried game drive, taking in the landscapes and wildlife encounters along the way.

Continue your journey into the lush highlands of Bwindi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and spend the afternoon at leisure. Relax in the tranquil forest atmosphere, unwind after the drive, and prepare your gear for the thrilling gorilla trekking experience awaiting you the following day.

Day Day 6
Bwindi Gorilla Tracking & Visit charming Community/Village.

Bwindi Gorilla Tracking & Visit charming Community/Village.

Wake early for a hearty breakfast to prepare for the highlight of your safari — gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. By 8:00 am, report to the ranger station for registration and a briefing by expert guides. Trekking groups are then led into the dense rainforest, pushing through lush undergrowth in search of the gorillas. Depending on the location of the gorilla family, the trek may last anywhere from 30 minutes to 5–6 hours.

A reasonable level of fitness and sturdy walking shoes are required for this adventure. Once the gorillas are located, spend an unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat — listening to their vocalizations, watching them feed and interact, and marveling at the sheer presence of the dominant Silverback. With only a few hundred mountain gorillas left in the wild, this encounter is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

In the afternoon, immerse yourself in a community visit with the Batwa people, the forest’s original inhabitants. Through guided walks, storytelling, and demonstrations of traditional hunting and gathering techniques, you’ll gain insight into their ancient way of life. Learn about medicinal plants, forest survival skills, and the Batwa’s deep connection to the rainforest. This cultural immersion offers a rare opportunity to step back in time and understand the traditions of one of Africa’s oldest communities.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
