Planned for those who have a minimum amount of time and who want to reach the third highest peak Pt. Lenana. Any healthy person can do this challenging, non-technical ascent. Normally thee route is characterized by rains.
DAY 1: NAIROBI – NARO MORU. METEOROLOGICAL STATION
You drive to the north of Nairobi through pineapple and coffee plantations to the slopes of Mt Kenya which normally take 4 hrs. You will have your picnic lunch at Naro-Moru gate and Then the guide set a leisurely pace to Met station where we spend the night in the Mountain log cabins
DAY 2: MET STATION – MACKINDERS CAMP.
After breakfast, your climb continues to Mackinder’s camp which is approximately 5-6 hrs,12 km. You will walk through the
vertical bog and tussock grass. At this point, the main peaks provide a spectacular view of Batian and Nelion, continue walking through Teleki Valley, dinner/overnight at Mackinder’s camp 4,300m.
DAY 3: MACKINDERS CAMPS – POINT LENANA – MET STATION.
The ascension of the summit of Point Lenana begins before dawn at 3.00 o’clock to ensure time to view the sunrise from the peaks.The walk takes 3 hrs to Point Lenana 4,985m, the third-highest peak. Enjoy the sunrise and take great photos before descending to Mackinders camp for breakfast and later go downhill to met station taking 4 hours more, arrive in time for dinner and overnight. Then descend to Mackinder’s camp for breakfast, then descend via moorland to Met station, which is going to take you 5 hrs
DAY 4: MACKINDERS CAMP – NARO MORU – NAIROBI.
After breakfast, you will walk for 9 km through the rainforest to connect your transport back to Nairobi at your hotel/airport for your flight back home.
